French passé composé worksheet
Two decisions per answer: which auxiliary, which participle. This sheet drills both.
The passé composé is where French conjugation stops being mechanical. Students have to pick être or avoir, then produce a participle that may or may not be regular, then agree it if the auxiliary is être. Writing the full form out by hand — no multiple choice — is what makes those three decisions stick.

How to use this worksheet
- Run one sheet with mixed verbs, then a second with irregular verbs only to isolate participles like pris, mis, vu and fait.
- Set pronouns to plural only for a sheet that forces agreement decisions (nous sommes allés, elles sont parties).
- Pair it with an imparfait sheet the following week, then a mixed-tense sheet to test the contrast.

Questions teachers ask
Does the worksheet cover être and avoir verbs?
Yes. The verb pool includes both auxiliary families, so students have to decide between être and avoir on every question rather than applying one rule throughout.
Can I use this for a passé composé test?
Yes. Generate a version, print it with the answer key kept back, and press “Generate a new version” to produce a second, non-identical paper for a retake.
