Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Bonjour Verbs mobile app and the bonjourverbs.com website (together, the "Service"), operated by Zap Software ("Zap Software", "we", "us"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. Who can use the Service
You must be at least 13 years old to use Bonjour Verbs. If you're between 13 and the age of majority in your country, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed these Terms with you.
2. Accounts
You can use Bonjour Verbs anonymously without an account. If you create an account (via Sign in with Apple or Google):
- You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
- You're responsible for activity that happens through your account.
- You may delete your account at any time from the in-app Settings → Account screen, or by emailing support@bonjourverbs.com.
3. Subscriptions and purchases
3.1 Free tier and Pro subscription
Bonjour Verbs offers a free tier and a paid "Pro" subscription. Free covers présent indicatif, the top 100 verbs, the first ~13 levels, and the Custom Quiz builder (1 saved quiz, free tenses only). Pro unlocks the remaining 13 tenses (passé composé, imparfait, futur, conditionnel, subjonctif, impératif, and the literary tenses), all 2,000+ verbs, the full level roadmap, unlimited saved Custom Quizzes, Smart Quiz, and My Verbs favorites.
3.2 Free trial
New users receive a 5-day free trial of Pro on signup. No payment method is required for the trial. At the end of the trial, you'll return to the free tier unless you choose to subscribe.
3.3 Billing
Subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed by Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). Pricing in your local currency appears in the in-app paywall before purchase.
- Monthly Pro, auto-renews every month until canceled.
- Annual Pro, auto-renews every year until canceled.
- Lifetime Pro, one-time purchase, no renewal.
3.4 Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel an auto-renewing subscription at any time from your Apple ID or Google Play account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Refund requests must be made directly to the store you purchased through:
- iOS purchases: reportaproblem.apple.com
- Android purchases: Google Play account
We do not directly process refunds; the stores' policies apply.
4. Acceptable use
Don't:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the app, except where permitted by law.
- Use the Service to harass, threaten, or defraud anyone.
- Use the Service to violate any law, regulation, or third-party right.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its underlying infrastructure.
5. Intellectual property
The Bonjour Verbs app, website, branding, mascot ("Léo"), and all original lesson content are owned by Zap Software and protected by copyright. You receive a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own learning.
French verb data (infinitives, conjugations) is derived from public-domain linguistic sources.
6. User-generated content
If you contact us with feedback, ideas, or suggestions, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use that feedback to improve the Service. You retain ownership of anything you originally created.
7. Disclaimers
Bonjour Verbs is provided "as is". We don't guarantee that you'll achieve any particular level of French proficiency. Conjugation data and lesson explanations are reviewed for accuracy, but we don't warrant they're free of errors. If you spot one, please report it to support@bonjourverbs.com.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Zap Software is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; provisions that should reasonably survive termination (sections 5, 7, 8, 11) continue to apply.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email (if you have an account). The "Last updated" date above will always reflect the current version.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec, Canada, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Montreal, Quebec, except where local consumer protection laws give you the right to use your own courts.
