French -re verbs worksheet
The smallest of the three groups, and the one students guess at most.
The regular -re pattern is short (attendre → j'attends, tu attends, il attend, nous attendons, vous attendez, ils attendent) but the silent third-person singular trips learners up constantly. This sheet keeps the focus there, and mixes in the high-frequency irregulars — prendre, mettre, écrire — that share the ending without sharing the pattern.

How to use this worksheet
- Keep the tense on présent for the first sheet: the -ds / -ds / -d contrast is the whole lesson.
- Follow up at A2 with passé composé — -re verbs are where irregular past participles (pris, mis, écrit) cluster.
- Use the grid puzzle to place attendre next to prendre so the divergence is visible in one glance.

Questions teachers ask
Are irregular -re verbs included?
Yes. The sheet mixes regular -re verbs with frequent irregulars like prendre, mettre and écrire, because that is how students meet them in real text.
Can I limit the worksheet to regular -re verbs only?
Set the verb group to “3rd-group verbs” for the regular pattern, or to “irregular verbs” to drill only the exceptions.
