French -ir verbs worksheet

French -ir verbs split into two families that look identical in the infinitive: the regular finir type with its -iss- expansion (nous finissons), and irregular ones like venir, partir and ouvrir that behave nothing like it. Practising them mixed is what teaches students to tell the two apart.

• Run the sheet once with mixed verbs so students meet both the -iss- pattern and the irregulars in the same set.
• Set the verb group to irregular verbs for a follow-up sheet that isolates venir, partir, sortir and dormir.
